Module 4 - Teaching Practice 2
Module Description
This module extends over two years. It is an essential component of the course and follows on from Teaching Practice 1. It comprises mainly of the students teaching within the classroom. Students will be observed throughout the three years by peers and by Global Schoolroom tutors.
Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module students should be able to:
- Demonstrate the necessary skills of class planning, selection of content, material and resources appropriate to pupil age, interest and ability
- Demonstrate the professional skills associated with organization of a lesson, opening, closing, appropriate questioning, pacing and strategies.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management, positive reinforcement and motivation.
- Demonstrate the ability to reflect and evaluate own teaching.
- Demonstrate the necessary leadership skills appropriate to role in classroom and whole school community.
Student Workload and Scheduling
Lectures/Workshops 5 hours
Student Work 10 hours
Student Assessment 35 hours
Student Work/Assessment Strategies
- Continuous assessment in the classroom by peers and Global Schoolroom tutors.
- A reflective diary should be written up to record experiences and reflections during observations by peers and Global Schoolroom tutors.
Module Dependencies
Students must be working within the local educational system.
