Garret has worked in Ireland as a teacher and teacher educator, and in private practice in the areas of education for sustainable development and the environment. He has extensive experience in teacher education in Ireland, India, Kenya, Uganda and Sierra Leone. He has worked in Curriculum Development in Ireland with University College Dublin and in India with Assam Don Bosco University, where he served on their expert panel. He is Chair of the Irish Forum for Global Education and holds degrees in Science and Education.
Gráinne has an extensive range of experience in education, having worked as a teacher in mainstream and special educational settings, as an educational psychologist and Special Education Needs Co-ordinator, and as a Deputy Principal. She is an Associate with the Professional Development Service for Teachers and in recent years has focused her attention on the design and facilitation of Continuous Professional Development for teachers in Ireland, Sierra Leone and India.
Damien is a qualified accountant and combines his experience in the private sector with his Accountancy and Supply Chain Management qualifications. He has worked in a variety of roles from Management Accountant to Sales Manager and currently splits his time between Global Schoolroom and managing a large multi-national distribution business.
School Leadership Co-ordinator
Since qualifying as a Home Economics and Religion Teacher, Billy has worked at every level of education from Teacher, School Principal, Teacher Educator, National Co-ordinator for Teacher Induction (Post-Primary) and Regional Development Officer with the National Behaviour Support Service. Billy also works with a number of educational partners and Schools in Ireland and Sierra Leone, supporting School Principals and helps to operationalise systems and plans.
Global Schoolroom Board
Robert is Managing Director of Emeritus Consulting. He holds a law degree from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics. Over a career spanning 35 years he has held a number of key senior positions at Cornmarket Group Financial Services. Robert is Chairman of IMAGE Publications, and is on the management board of Hotel Playa Mazatlan, a major resort in one of Mexico’s premier vacation destinations.
Germaine is Programme Manager of The Schools’ Business Partnership at Business in the Community Ireland. She has been in this role since 2003 having been seconded to the organization by the Department of Education & Skills. Germaine has led the development, growth, and national rollout of the initiative which supports the Government’s strategy on educational inclusion and early school leaving. Germaine has presented Ireland’s successful model on schools – business engagement at several EU Commission Conferences and in the USA. Her background is in teaching where she has taught in schools in Ireland and in the USA.
Gwen is Principal of Presentation Secondary School, Warrenmount in Dublin 8. She is a graduate of Mater Dei Institute of Education. Throughout her career, she has been a Teacher, Home-School Liaison Officer, Leaving Certificate Applied Co-ordinator and Deputy Principal. Gwen has been Director of TASIS England, a summer school in Surrey and has worked in Teacher Education both in Ireland, India, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Gwen has worked on sub-committees of the Joint Managerial Body, Religion Teachers Association of Ireland, Amnesty International and CEIST.
Patsy is an independent facilitator and consultant. He has been a Teacher, School Principal and Development Education Coordinator with Gorta SelfHelpAfrica. In recent years he has focussed his attention on Global Citizenship, Sustainability and Development in Adult & Community and Formal Education Sector.
Ivor O Shea
Ivor is an Actuary. In a 23-year career with Irish Life he was Head of Health Insurance, overseeing Irish Life’s investment in GloHealth and investigating strategic investment opportunities for Irish Life. Before leaving Irish Life in 2014 to pursue private investment, research and writing, Ivor was non-Executive Director of GloHealth Financial Services Limited. He has also been Treasurer and Council Member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland
Roland is Coordinator of the Teaching Support Centre at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. He previously worked at the University of Limerick, where he was Head of the School of Education. He has worked in Curriculum Development with the Irish National Council for Curriculum and Assessment and has researched and written extensively on education and politics. His has worked in Rwanda, Zambia and Uganda and has represented the Government of Ireland on the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and was co-chair of the Expert Group on Competences in Education for Sustainable Development.
